MGU9 Annual vehicle inspection

Every MGU9 scheduled service includes an annual vehicle inspection. These inspections ensure all vehicle components are wearing evenly, so you can be confident in driving your MG around. Below is a list of items included in your annual vehicle inspection.

  • Check for coolant level and cooling system pipeline and fill up coolant when necessary
  • Check for secure fuel system pipeline connection and fastening
  • Check for brake fluid level and brake system pipeline and fill up brake fluid when necessary
  • Check for reliable and effective fixings and retainers of front and rear suspension
  • Check for reliable and effective connections of steering track rod, ball joint and knuckle retaining bolts
  • Chassis inspection: Check for each part, fixing, harness and pipeline of chassis are secured reliably and effectively with no disturbance; Check for chassis oil and water leakage
  • Tyres (spare tyres included): Check for rear hub bearing and check for tyre pressure and wearing; Calibrate tyre pressure; Exchange tyre position when necessary; Check and tighten bolts to regulated torque
  • Check for complete and effective light signal, instrument display, electrical device functions
  • Check for battery level and charging and check and clear battery terminals, tightened when necessary
  • Check for damaged air bag surface and reliable and effective seat belt functions
  • Check for reliable and effective AC pipeline connection and securing; Check for good AC functions
  • Check for clamps at both ends of inter-cooler pipe, and re-tighten them with a torque of 5Nm
  • Check for abnormal things or dirt on propeller shaft damper and clean in time (applicable to the model equipped with propeller shaft damper)
  • Road test: performance test
  • Check for exhaust pipe connection is secured reliably and effectively and rubber shackles of exhaust pipe are aged and broken
  • Check for disturbance and damage of vacuum system pipeline
  • Check for engine accessories belt, if the tensioning force does not meet the requirements, it is required to adjust it accordingly; If damaged, it is required to replace it with a new one
  • Check for engine compartment harness is secured reliably and effectively without disturbance and damage
  • Check for front and rear brake shoes and parking brake clearance, as well as parking lever travel, adjust and replace when necessary
  • Check for transmission shaft universal joint gaiter is damaged
  • Check for wear and cracking of leaf spring end pad and lug bushing and replace when necessary
  • Check for transmission lubricant level and fill up when necessary
  • Read faults memory information of each system with after-sale diagnostic equipment
  • Clean carbon deposits on oxygen sensor probe
  • Check for reliable and effective operation of engine crankcase ventilation system
  • Check for free travel of steering wheel and adjust when necessary
  • Check for panoramic sunroof, clean the guide rails and apply special grease when necessary; check for water drain function of panoramic sunroof, and clean as required. (model with panoramic sunroof)
  • Clean and lubricate vehicle body accessories such as door lock, hinge and track

IM Annual vehicle inspection

Every IM scheduled service includes an annual vehicle inspection. These inspections ensure all vehicle components are wearing evenly, so you can be confident in driving your IM around. Below is a list of items included in your annual vehicle inspection.

  • Check the function of parking brake, and perform adjustment or system self-learning if necessary
  • Check the interior and exterior lights, horns and system warning display function
  • Check the windscreen surface and the operation of wiper and windscreen washer. If the windscreen washer nozzle is adjustable, adjust the angle of the nozzle if necessary
  • Check the state and function of seat belts
  • Check the control functions of A/C
  • Check the state and function of seats
  • Check the conditions of bonnet lock, tailgate or trunk lock, door lock, hinge, door check, etc., and clean all dust and re-grease if necessary
  • Check the high/low-voltage harnesses for interference, wear or damage
  • Check the appearance of high/low-voltage connectors to confirm if the surface is damaged and the connectors are installed in place
  • Check the windscreen washer fluid level and fill to the standard level if necessary
  • Check the status of cooling system pipeline and connections
  • Check the status of A/C system pipeline and connections
  • Check the status of front-end cooling module and clean the relevant surfaces if necessary
  • Check the status of brake booster
  • Check the status of manual maintenance switch to ensure reliable installation and clean the dust from the surface
  • Check the appearance of high/low-voltage connectors to confirm if the surface is damaged and the connectors are installed in place
  • Check the high/low-voltage harnesses for interference, wear or damage
  • Check whether the appearance of vent valve of the high-voltage battery pack is damaged and the installed mark has been moved
  • Check the status of cooling system pipeline and connections
  • Check whether the marks for the relevant mounting bolts of the high-voltage battery pack have been moved, and ensure that they are tightened
  • Check the appearance of high-voltage battery pack case (including the bracket) for cracks and deformations
  • Check the status of brake lines
  • Check the wheel bearings and drive shaft boots
  • Check the suspension and steering system for leakage or wear
  • Check the tyre tread depth for abnormal wear and damage, including the spare tyre (if equipped)
  • Check the data of four-wheel alignment as appropriate, and perform rotation of front and rear wheels (Wheel rotation is not recommended when the front and rear wheel specifications are not the same)
  • Check whether the chassis and underbody bolts and nuts are tightened or fixed, and replace them if necessary
  • Check the electric drive unit mounting bracket
  • Read and clear DTCs and check the operation of control system with the scan tool
  • Check for the new version of ECU, and update it immediately if a new version is available
  • Check the equalization state of high-voltage battery pack, and recommend the user to perform equalization charging if necessary
  • Conduct the road test to check the status and function of power, brake, cruise control and steering systems, etc.
