Essential Maintenance Steps
1. Regular Exterior Cleaning
- Rinse with fresh water weekly (more if near the ocean refer table).
- Use pH-neutral car shampoo for full washes (monthly or as needed refer table).
- Clean wheel arches, sills, and underbody where dirt, sand, or salt may build up.
- Never use abrasive or household cleaners.
- Use only matte paint approved carwash, for matte paint finishes.
2. Paint Protection
- Apply wax or sealant every 8-12 weeks (or sooner in salty environments refer table).
- Professional ceramic coating offers enhanced durability.
- Repair chips/scratches promptly using MG Genuine Paint.
3. Corrosion Prevention
- Carry out undercarriage was at service intervals or after extreme environmental exposure (country road driving, through mud or near beaches and salt areas).
- Regularly inspect door edges, arches, and underbody panels.
- Rustproofing is recommended in high-salt areas, speak to your MG dealer or approved MG repairer.
4. Storage and Parking
- Park in a garage whenever possible (Recommended).
- If outdoors, use a breathable car cover (avoid PVC covers).
- Avoid long-term parking near direct sea spray, harsh sunlight or where fallout, droppings or tree sap may likely land on painted surfaces.
5. Trim & Seal Care
- Treat exterior rubber and plastics with UV protectant every 3-6 months.
- Prevents cracking, fading, and moisture intrusion.
6. Genuine Service & Perforation Inspection
- At every scheduled MG service, Perforation inspections are carried out, this includes:
- Full underbody inspection for corrosion.
- Paintwork condition check.
- Retain records of all care and maintenance for warranty claims.
